2026 SEASON (LMU) Transfer student joining the Lions for the 2026 season.

PREVIOUS COLLEGE 
Attended Odessa College from 2024-2025, earning a General Studies degree in May 2025. Played catcher for two years under Head Coach David Wood in the WJAC Conference and served as team captain as a sophomore. Appeared in 45 games and posted a .314 batting average with 2 home runs, 32 RBI, 22 runs scored, and 4 stolen bases.

HIGH SCHOOL 
Graduated from Sunshine State Elite Academy in May 2023. Played catcher for four years under Head Coach Yazy Arbelo in the Florida Private Schools League. Earned a varsity letter as a freshman and served as team captain as a junior. Named All-League/Conference and All-City/All Area as a senior. Led the team in batting average as a junior, hitting .395, and threw out 20 of 30 base stealers as a senior. Named FICA Tournament MVP. Played club baseball with the Arbelo Scout Team and was ranked as the number 68 catcher in the state of Florida.

PERSONAL 
Jose was born in Barinitas, Venezuela and grew up in Midland, Texas. He intends to major in Psychology. Parents are Jesmar Cuevas and Jose Carmona, who played baseball at Unellez, Venezuela (1996-2000). Has one brother, Josmar (17), who currently plays high school baseball at Midland Lee High School.
