Appeared in 16 games and started seven during his freshman season... went 4-0 with a 2.74 ERA... pitched 42.2 innings, striking out 15 hitters... made two appearances in WCC play, going 1-0 while tossing 4.0 scoreless innings and allowing just two hits to WCC foes... made his collegiate debut on 2/22 vs. Tennessee... quality start and a victory (third of season) at CSU Bakersfield on 5/10 (6.0 IP, UER, K, 77 Pitches)... picked up victory in a shutout at Oregon (4-0) on 5/17 (5.0 IP, 5 H, BB, 2 K)... made four relief appearances before getting first start on 3/7 vs. UC Irvine (3.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, K)... earned the victory in a start vs. CSUN on 4/18 (5.0 IP, 5 H, UER)... made first career start against UCI again on 3/28 (3.0 IP, H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, K)... struck out three vs. Washington St. on 2/24 before tossing 2.0 scoreless IP vs. BYU on 2/27

A 2016 graduate of Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, Calif... prepped under head coach Mike Oakland... a two-year varsity letter winner... first team All-WCAL as a senior... second team All-Mercury News and All-Bay Area pick his final season... went 8-0 with a 0.73 ERA in 67.1 innings his senior year... helped squad to Boras Tournament Championship, WCAL Championship, CCS Championship and WCAL Playoff Championship as junior... earned Athlete of the Week in the San Jose Mercury news for throwing a 67-pitch, one-hitter facing the minimum number of batters... team was ranked 27th in the nation and earned WCAL co-Championship and CCS Championship as a senior... also competed in water polo and basketball in high school... garnered Senior Athlete Award, which recognizes just five senior student-athletes for their excellence... second team All-WCAL and honorable mention All-Mercury News in basketball as a junior and senior... basketball team won the WCAL and were runners-up in Central Coast Section his junior season... helped guide senior squad to a 26-3 record and a #22 ranking, including going undefeated in the WCAL and in the Central Coast Section...

Giuseppe Benedetti was born in Santa Clara, Calif... son of Helen and Steve Benedetti... has two brothers, Brian and Eric, and two sisters, Kimberly and Kristin... Brian, Kimberly and Kristin all played water polo at LMU, while Eric played baseball at Linn Benton Community College and now attends Menlo College for school... chose to attend LMU because of the beautiful campus and the great academics... an economics major.
