Briefly: Eleftheria "Ria" Koukou begins her fourth academic year and second at LMU...brings a vast amount of
international playing experience to the team...as a left-handed player, she presents numerous problems for
opponents...a very gifted athlete who can attack from either side...an athletic and explosive player who understands
the game...can deal with any situation on the court.
At LMU: 1999...Koukou redshirted her first season in the Lions' program.
At Oregon State University...1998...played in 79 games...finished fourth in the Pac-10 with an 0.35 service aces
per game average...recorded a personal-best and team-high five aces against Denver on September 7...posted eight
double-figure kill performances and one double-double performance...earned Pac-10 all-academic honorable
mention honors...1997...played in 85 games as a freshman...accumulated 109 kills and 79 digs...posted three
double-figure kill performances...recorded a season-high 12 kills against Washington State (Nov. 20)...had a
double-double against Kent State (10 kills, 15 digs) on August 30, and Washington State (12 kills, 13 digs) on
September 19.
High School: Koukou graduated from Polykladiko Lyceum in 1996.
Personal: Eleftheria Koukou was born in Kavala, Greece on March 18, 1979...the daughter of Christos and
Georgia Koukou...has one brother, Akis...lists playing beach volleyball and sleeping as her hobbies...names her
favorite vacation spot as the Greek Islands and the Bahamas...a business administration major with a minor in Italian.
