Briefly: Kelly Ward begins her third year at LMU...has gained valuable experience throughout her two seasons...had a very successful spring season...very capable of running the offense...one of the most athletic setters to ever go through the LMU program...a mature player with a winning drive...a talented athlete who will challenge for the starting setter position.

At LMU: Ward enters her third season in the Lions' program...1999...played in 36 games and and 18 matches in the season...averaged 1.83 assists per game...placed sixth on the sophomore season-high assists chart with 66 on the year...had a season-best 16 assists, six digs and three kills against Colorado State (Sep. 5)...1998...appeared in 33 games and 18 matches during the season...made seven starts at setter as a freshman...had a season-best performance against Santa Clara on October 3, accounting for 58 assists and an .833 attack percentage (5 kills, 6 attacks)...collected a season-high nine kills against Saint Mary's on October 2...sat out part of the season due to an ankle injury.

High School: Ward is a 1998 graduate of Xavier College Prep in Phoenix, AZ...the 1997 Arizona Female Athlete of the Year...a four-year letterwinner in volleyball...an all-city and all-conference selection her senior year... honored as a two-time all-state player following her junior and senior seasons...led her team to the 1996 and 1997 state championships and a 34-2 record in 1997...named a 1997 Volleyball Magazine honorable mention All-American...listed as one of the top five setters in the country by Student Sports Magazine...also lettered one year in track...prep volleyball coach was Lisa Olona.

Personal: Kelly Martin Ward was born in Phoenix, AZ on December 6, 1979...the daughter of Larry and Marti Ward...she has one sister, Brittany...also recruited by Arizona State, California, Washington State and Minnesota...enjoys playing all sports in her free time...names the Arizona Diamondbacks of the MLB as her favorite professional team...chose Loyola Marymount for its strong academics and volleyball program...a business administration major.
