Briefly:Tracy Sharp begins her final season with the Lions soccer
program...the Yorba Linda native continues to get better, as she was
named College Soccer News All-American Honorable mention and first
team All-West Conference in 1999...Last season also earned her First
team All-West Region by NSCAA and second team All-West Region by
Soccer Buzz Magazine...has won 13 1-0 games and has helped the Lions
win or tie 28 games when holding an opponent scoreless...Cal State
Fullerton, who heavily recruited Sharp, is learning to dred playing
Sharp, as Fullerton is 0-3 the past three seasons against the senior,
being outscored 4-0 in three years...she is coming off an outstanding
season in 1998...earned numerous honors including LMU Female Athlete of
the Year and WCC Defensive Player of the Year...competed with AJAX
Women's Team in the WPSL and helped them win the national
championship in the Women's Open Division this July...has proven
herself as one of the premier goalkeepers in the country, and a
preseason All-American candidate.
At LMU:Sharp enters her fourth season in the Lions' program...
1999:...For
second straight year started all 19 matches in goal for the Lions...
her all-American season was highlighted by a .83 goals against
average, which ranked fourth in the WCC...allowing only 15 goals in the
19 games, she helped the Lions rank in the top 20 nationally for the
second straight year in team defense... the Lions finished 20th in team
defense with a .77 GAA... With 8.5 shutouts on the year (.45 per game),
ranked her second in the WCC in shutouts and fourth in shutouts per
game...she also finished fourth in the conference with 67 saves and
fifth with 3.52 saves per game...holds the LMU career GAA mark
(0.85)...was 5-2 in games that were 1-0 and was 2-0 in games that went
into overtime last season...
1998:...started all 19 matches in goal and
played all but 45 minutes of the entire season...honored as the LMU
Female Athlete of the Year...also named the WCC Defensive Player of the
Year...earned first-team All-WCC honors...selected to the Soccer Buzz
All-West Region first team...honored as the WCC Player of the Week on
October 5...led the defense to a No. 9 national ranking, allowing only
12 goals in 19 games, and a No.3 team ranking in shut-outs (13)...broke
her own single-season goals against average mark with a 1998 mark of
0.60... collected a school-record 12.5 shutouts and 70 saves during the
season...ranked as the No. 9 goalkeeper in the nation...posted a record
of 12-2-5, also a school-record...voted 1998 Defensive Player of the
Year by her teammates...
1997:...finished the season ranked fourth among
WCC goalkeepers in goals against average (1.36)...played and started in
10 games...made 24 saves, including a career-high six saves against
Pepperdine (Oct. 19)...posted five shut-outs for the season.
High School:Sharp is a 1997 graduate of Esperanza High School in
Anaheim, CA...a three-year letterwinner in soccer...served as team
captain in her final season...selected to the first team All-CIF and
All-Orange County teams following the 1997 season...named Sunset League
Defender and Player of the Year as a senior...a three-time All-Sunset
League selection...honored as the Los Angeles Times Player of the Week
in January of 1995...twice honored as the team's MVP as a sophomore and
senior...a prep teammate of fellow Lion Heather Nelson...prep coaches
were Phyllis Scarborough and Barrie Calhoun.
Personal:Tracy Marie Sharp ("Sharpie") was born on August 18, 1979 in
Orange, CA...the daughter of David and Shelly Sharp...she has one
brother, Christopher, and one sister, Rachael...her aunt, Sharon Sharp,
is an LMU alum...names her favorite "healthy" meal as chicken, and her
favorite "unhealthy" meal as pizza and Skittles...also recruited by Cal
State Fullerton and Portland...a business major.
