Briefly: Michelle Woiemberghe begins her final year at LMU...underwent
reconstructive knee surgery in the spring of 1999 and responded with
a full recovery and tallied six points on the season...she earned
Academic All-West Coast Conference honors...an exceptionally dangerous
player with the long throw-in...has ability to create scoring
opportunities, and the ability to hold the ball under pressure...will
be a senior leader in the 2000 season.
At LMU: Woiemberghe enters her fourth season in the Lions'
program...
1999:...in only third game back from Spring knee surgery, scored
the lone goal in the 2-1 loss to Denver...finished the season playing
in all 19 games, starting in three of them...was named to NSCAA
Scholar-Athlete All-America third team in the West Region... she
added her second goal of the season in a 2-1 win over Pepperdine,
which was the game winner...Woiemberghe was one of the leaders with a
.700 shot on goal percentage, hitting seven of her 10 shots on
net...she finished with six points on the season...
1998:...played in 18
games and made seven starts...an accurate shooter, as 12 of 19 shots
were on-goal...scored a goal in a 2-0 victory over Wyoming on October
2...collected three shots and an assist against Denver on November

the season...scored the winning goal against Saint Mary's on November
2...had 12 shots on goal and two assists for the season.
High School: Woiemberghe is a 1997 graduate of Cypress High School in
Cypress, CA...a four-time letterwinner in both soccer and
volleyball...also lettered in track as a freshman...the 1996-97 Empire
League soccer Most Valuable Player...named Empire League Athlete of the
Year and City of Cypress Athlete of Distinction following her senior
season...led team to the Empire League Championship during the 1997
season...honored as the team's Best Offensive Player and earned
all-league first-team honors as a junior...an Empire League first-team
selection as a sophomore, and a second-team pick as a freshman...twice
named the team's Most Valuable Player...prep coach was Ray Austen.
Personal: Michelle Kathleen Woiemberghe was born on July 18, 1979 in
Long Beach, CA...the daughter of Michael and Judy Woiemberghe...she has
three sisters, Paula, Laura and Nicole...her father, Michael, played
tennis at Cal Poly Pomona (1968-69)...also recruited by Chapman...lists
the Caribbean as her favorite vacation spot...chose LMU for its
reputation, size and location...a business major.
