Briefly: Erica Florez enters her first year with LMU and third year of collegiate soccer...the junior joins the Lions after transferring from Iowa State University...a two-time All-Big 12 selection and was named third team freshman All-America in 1998... will provide instant offense for the Lions' already deep forward position...will compete for a starting role and push younger players with her Division I experience... a clutch goal scorer who has put up 19 goals in two seasons...returns home to California, where she led Bakersfield High School to three championships.

At Iowa State: played two seasons for the Cyclones and was released from her scholarship following a coaching change in 1999...
1999:...a second-team All-Big 12 Conference selection...led the Cyclones in scoring with 24 points on nine goals and six assists...named to the Big 12 Championship all-tournament team for the second-straight year...earned Most Valuable Player recognition for her performance in ISU's 5-4 penalty kick win over second-seeded Texas A&M in the quarterfinal round and her play in the 2-1 loss to Missouri in the semi-final...for the season she led ISU in points, goals, game-winning goals, and assists...
1998:...as a freshman was named the Big 12 Conference Rookie of the Year after finishing 10th among all Big 12 scorers with 24 points on 10 goals and four assists...named to the freshman All-America third team and freshman all-Central Region by Soccer Buzz magazine...the rookie was voted onto the all-conference second team and the Big 12 Championship all-tournament team...she was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Sept. 22...led the team in scoring and goals scored, shattering ISU's mark for goals scored by a freshman (10).

High School: Florez led Bakersfield High School to three CIF titles over her career, garnering all-area honors each year...she was named the Bakersfield Californian defensive MVP in 1996...named offensive MVP in 1997 and 1998...was named Player of the Year in 1997 and 1998...a member of the Olympic Development Program's U-14 district team for four years, the U-15 and U-16 district teams and the U-16 state team...received the 1997 National Cup Fair Play Award with her club team, the Bakersfield Trackers...Florez was the MVP in cross country for two season and a two-time CIF state qualifier..

Personal: daughter of Stella and Joe Florez...was born on Nov. 15, 1980...majoring in elementary education...played in high school and club soccer with fellow Lion Myka Peck.
