Briefly:Andres Murriagui begins his second year at LMU one of the
program's most technically skilled dribblers...expected to be one of
the Lions' top playmakers...very effective in the opponents 18-yard
box...has an incredible knack for drawing penalties.
At LMU:Murriagui enters his sophomore campaign wih the Lions...1999...saw
action in 17 games while making 14 starts...an All-WCC second-team
selection...finished second on the team in shots (34), goals (4) and
shots-on-goal (19)...had the game winning goal against No. 23
California (Sept. 17) and CS Bakersfield (Oct. 17)...tallied an assist
in his first collegiate game against UC Irvine (Sept. 1)...ended the
season third on the team in points (11) and fifth in assists (3).
High School:Murriagui is a 1999 graduate of North High School in
Riverside, CA...a four-year varsity letterwinner...served as team captain
for three years...honored as an All-CIF Division II selection three
times...earned All-Ivy League honors as a sophomore, junior and
senior...prep coach was Tad Barton.
Personal:Carlos Andres Murriagui was born on February 22, 1981 in
Pichinch, Quito in Ecuador...the son of Dardo and Miriam Piriz...is an
only child...also recruited by UCLA and Cal State Fullerton...enjoys
Chinese food and names Europe as his favorite vacation spot...a Spanish
major.
