Briefly:Jeff Kovar begins his second year at LMU pleasant surprise as
a defender after moving back from the central midfield...unbelievably
skilled at winning head balls...tenacious defender who is slated to
start every game.
At LMU:Kovar enters his sophomore season with the Lions...1999...saw
action in 19 games while making 17 starts...received All-WCC honorable
mention honors...posted one goal and two assists for a total of four
points on the year...finished sixth on the team in total points...scored
his only goal of the season against St. Mary's on Nov. 5...tallied an
assist against No. 23 California on Sept. 17 and against UC Irvine on
Oct. 1...accumulated 14 shots throughout the year.
High School:Kovar is a 1999 graduate of Peninsula High School in
Palos Verdes, CA...a three-year letterwinner...served as team captain as
a senior...a two-year All-South Bay selection...earned third-team All-CIF
honors as a junior, and second-team honors as a senior...named team
MVP...honored as the Bay League Offensive Player of the Year...prep
coaches were Alan King and Bruce Myree.
Personal:Jeffrey Michael Kovar was born on June 19, 1981 in Torrance,
CA...the son of Jerry and Linda Kovar...has one brother, Matt...chose LMU
over Claremont and UC Davis...enjoys watching movies and playing
basketball in his free time...a biology major.
