LMU Athletics - Project Update
The Loyola Marymount University Athletic Department has made the commitment to improve its athletic facilities, providing the best venues possible for its more than 420 student-athletes participating in 22 varsity sport programs.
The athletic facilities at Loyola Marymount University have seen a little of everything in the more than 70 years while in its current Westchester location. From the 1984 Olympic games to LMU basketball to the World Cup and everything in between, LMU athletics facilities has become home to the best and it continues to get better. Thanks to continued commitment by the University, the facilities LMU calls home has expanded and improved over the last decade. It took a huge step in the summer of 2008 when the University allocated office and meeting space to athletics within the Dorothy and Thomas E. Leavey Center on the Westchester campus. The Leavey Center is home to 15 of the Lions' 22 varsity programs in the newly remodeled and modern office complex. The growth continued with the opening of the brand new Lions Athletic Center, which includes the state-of-the-art Chad and Ginni Dreier Strength & Conditioning Center. It open in April of 2011 and LMU athletics continues to expand and grow into 2015.
The improvements have been significant in the last five years and continue with major projects on the way. Below is a list of projects and detailed information on how LMU Athletics is "Building Champions".
