Will enter his fourth and final season with the Lions...has been a member of the Lions' last three championship teams...has improved over the past three season, improving his appearances each season with a career high 19 last season...had lowest ERA a year ago...will need to provide solid number of innings as a reliever for young pitching staff of Lions...has solid command of slider and continues to understand strike zone on college level...has postseason experience which will be important for the Lions...must develop into "go to" guy this season coming out of the bullpen.
2000 Season Notes
The junior appeared in 19 games for the Lions, 18 coming in relief...allowed 29 hits, 17 earned runs, 17 walks and struck out 23 in his 24 and one-third innings of work this season...finished with a 6.29 ERA and a record of 1-2...allowed only seven extra base hits, while limiting opponents to a .279 batting average...picked up two saves this season, the first coming in two and two-thirds innings of work against Utah on Feb. 19, holding on to the 4-1 win...he struck out four and walked only one in the save...second save was on March 12 against San Francisco, pitching one scoreless inning in the 13-10 win...picked up his lone win of the season in an 11-9 victory over UC Santa Barbara on March 1...pitched one inning of hitless baseball, striking out two of the three batters he faced...did not pitch in Regionals.

Pitched just one inning of relief at the NCAA Regional...came on in relief in the sixth inning against Stanford and issued two walks while facing five batters in the inning.

Appeared in 16 games, 13 in relief...allowed 42 hits and 21 walks in 28.2 innings for an average of 2.3 runners per inning...struck out 26 batters in 28.2 innings for an average of 8.29 strikeouts per nine innings...pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief against Nevada...tossed a career-high 6.0 innings against Cal State Fullerton, losing the game, 5-3...pitched 3.0 innings on two other occasions during the season, each in game at UNLV and Long Beach State.
