Schuetz, Tabacuks Earn OUTRIGGER Invitational All-Tournament Honors

LOS ANGELES — Nicole Schuetz and Maria Tabacuks were named to the 2026 OUTRIGGER Invitational All-Tournament Team following a 2-1 weekend for Loyola Marymount University women's volleyball in Honolulu.

The Lions earned four-set victories over UC San Diego and Utah Tech while pushing host Hawai'i to five sets, moving LMU to 5-1 overall through the first two weekends of the season. Schuetz and Tabacuks played key roles throughout the tournament as LMU continued its strong start to the 2026 campaign.

Schuetz opened the weekend with one of the strongest performances of her career in LMU's 3-1 victory over UC San Diego. The sophomore produced a match-high 26 kills and 28.0 points while adding seven digs and four blocks. Her offense proved especially valuable in a match in which three of LMU's set victories were decided by just two points, including a 29-27 third set in which the Lions erased five UC San Diego set points.

She followed with a team-high 18 kills and nine digs as LMU rallied from a two-set deficit to force a fifth set against Hawai'i. Schuetz remained a key option in the Lions' comeback, including late kills during LMU's 28-26 fourth-set victory that sent the match to a deciding frame.

Tabacuks delivered throughout all three matches in Honolulu. She began the tournament with 11 kills, eight digs, two aces and three blocks against UC San Diego, contributing several crucial points late in LMU's three tightly contested set victories. Her service ace gave the Lions a 28-27 advantage in the third set before LMU closed out the frame. Against Hawai'i, Tabacuks recorded a double-double with 16 kills and 17 digs while adding two service aces and 18.0 points. She closed both of LMU's set victories with kills, finishing the third set at 25-22 before putting away the final point of a 28-26 fourth-set win. Tabacuks completed the weekend with another double-double against Utah Tech, finishing with 14 kills and 12 digs while adding four blocks and 16.0 points. She helped LMU take control late in the match as the Lions held Utah Tech to a .159 hitting percentage and pulled away for a 25-16 fourth-set victory.

The honors mark the second consecutive tournament in which both Schuetz and Tabacuks have earned All-Tournament recognition. The duo was previously named Co-MVPs of LMU's season-opening tournament in Oxford, Mississippi.
