Lee Nets First Collegiate Goal in Tough 2-1 Loss to Panthers

LOS ANGELES — LMU (0-2-0) fell to Pitt (2-1-0) with a final score of 2-1 on Thursday at Sullivan Field. 
 
The match began with Pittsburgh applying significant pressure, managing several corner kicks and shots within the first 10 minutes. At 12:19, Pittsburgh's Celine Ottah notched a goal with assists from Adi Bianchin and Katie Ellermeyer, putting the Lions behind. Despite multiple attempts by Pittsburgh, including a notable save by JJ Hoover at 16:47, LMU's defense held firm to prevent further goals. Substitutions in the first half put on some added pressure, as Sophia Bastidos, Kate Kubiak, Maci Land, and Kaela Standish impressed when they came on. The period concluded with LMU trailing 1-0.
 
Pittsburgh scored a penalty kick in the 73rd minute.
 
LMU's best offensive efforts were highlighted by multiple shots on goal, including attempts by Sydney Schuler and Elise Bolanos
 
LMU demonstrated resilience in the second half, with Alaina Lee scoring her first collegiate goal at the 88:46 mark, assisted by Hailee Takao. The goal came after a free kick from Izzy Smith that the Lions kept alive in the danger area until Lee finished from close range.
 
The Lions fall to 0-2-0 overall this season. Pittsburgh improves to 2-1-0 overall following the match.
 
In their next game, LMU will face Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, Aug. 23, at 4 p.m. in Fullerton, California.
