Women's Cross Country

Tebbe Joins Cross Country Staff for Upcoming Season

LOS ANGELES – Loyola Marymount University Athletics has announced the hiring of Alex Tebbe as an Assistant Coach for the Cross Country program, Head Coach Chloe Curtis announced Monday.

Tebbe joins LMU after 10 seasons on the coaching staff at Cal State Fullerton, where he helped build one of the Big West Conference's most successful distance programs, contributing to sustained success in women's and men's cross country as well as indoor and outdoor track & field.

During his tenure at Cal State Fullerton, Tebbe guided the women's cross country team to the program's first Big West Conference Championship in school history in 2019. He also helped the Titans capture five Big West Outdoor Track & Field team championships on the men's side and one on the women's side. Additionally, Tebbe led both programs to top ten finishes at the NCAA West Region Cross Country Championships and contributed to 15 top-three conference team finishes across cross country, indoor track & field, and outdoor track & field.

Tebbe also coached 40 All-Big West performers across cross country and track & field, including 16 cross country and 24 track & field honorees. His athletes earned eight individual Big West Conference titles, including six in track & field and two in cross country, while 11 qualified for the NCAA West Preliminary Championships. He coached two NCAA Championship qualifiers in the women's 800 meters, including a Second-Team All-American in 2019, and mentored athletes to 16 indoor and outdoor school records.

In addition to competitive success, Tebbe's student-athletes excelled in the classroom. During his time at Fullerton, 46 cross country and track & field student-athletes earned Big West All-Academic honors, while two athletes were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Tebbe to LMU," said Head Coach Chloe Curtis. "His track record speaks for itself. He transformed Cal State Fullerton into a conference championship program, has consistently developed successful women's and men's teams, and our shared vision for athlete development and recruiting makes him an outstanding fit for where we want to take this program."

Prior to his coaching career, Tebbe was a four-year student-athlete at UC Irvine, competing as a distance runner for the Anteaters. He earned his bachelor's degree in psychology and social behavior with an emphasis in social ecology in 2015.

Tebbe will join the Lions for the 2026-27 season.
