LOS ANGELES — LMU is excited to welcome Emily Brown as its new Assistant Cross Country Coach.
 

A standout distance runner at both the collegiate and national levels, Brown brings a strong competitive background to LMU along with experience coaching and developing distance athletes. In 2025, she earned a silver medal at the Canadian National Championships, following an eighth-place finish at the 2024 Canadian Olympic Trials.
 

During her collegiate career at the University of Pittsburgh and Florida State University, Brown established herself as one of the top distance runners in both programs. She holds Pitt's school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and ranks among the program's all-time top 10 in the 1,500m, 1,000m, 3,000m and distance medley relay. At Florida State, she ranks among the program's all-time top 10 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
 

Brown's success extended beyond the track, as she was an 11-time All-ACC Academic Team selection and earned Dean's List honors at Pitt.
 

Most recently, Brown served as an assistant coach with UCLA's cross country and track programs, where she worked alongside the head distance coach in training, recruiting, competition and team administration. She previously served as an assistant distance coach at Leon High School in Tallahassee, Florida, developing training plans and mentoring student-athletes through their athletic and college preparation.
 

Brown also spent three summers with Team Prep USA's Running Camp, where she mentored more than 150 high school athletes and worked with elite-level competitors.

A graduate of Florida State's Master of Science in Athletic Coaching program, Brown earned her degree in December 2025 after completing her bachelor's degree in Anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh in 2023.

She is currently competing at a very high level, and I think that is something our athletes will really connect with. She knows firsthand what it takes to pursue big goals, handle the demands of training, and compete at the highest level. I'm excited for our athletes to learn from and be inspired by her," said head coach Chloe Curtis.
 

Brown joins the Lions following the departure of former assistant coach Alex Tebbe, who accepted a position at California Baptist.
