Hits, Heat, and a Shutout Sheet: Lions Cruise Past CSUN

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - LMU softball delivered a dominant all-around performance on Wednesday evening, shutting out CSUN, 6-0, at Smith Field behind a complete team effort both at the plate and in the circle.

The Lions controlled the game from start to finish, outhitting the Matadors 13-5 while showcasing depth in the pitching staff with a true by-committee approach. Seven different LMU pitchers combined to hold CSUN scoreless, allowing just five hits and striking out seven in a seamless, disciplined outing in the circle.

LMU broke through in the bottom of the second inning, stringing together five hits to plate three runs and take an early lead they would never relinquish. A bases-loaded double from Mya Allen proved to be the big swing, clearing the bases and giving the Lions early momentum.

The offense continued to apply pressure in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, adding one run in each frame. Justine Lambert paced the Lions with a two-RBI performance, while Taelor Walker added a pair of hits and an RBI of her own. LMU's lineup saw contributions up and down the order, with eight different players recording hits in the 13-hit effort.

It was also a special night for Sakora Harvell, who celebrated her birthday in style. Harvell not only contributed offensively with a hit, including a triple, but also came around to score as part of the Lions' well-rounded attack.

Inside the circle, LMU's pitching staff executed to perfection. Savannah Hooks got the start before Sawyer Denser earned the win, and the Lions continued to roll through Sara Pinedo, Kealani Caster, Jessie Gilbert, Angela Carrera, and Lindsay O'Dell to complete the shutout. Each pitcher played a key role in limiting CSUN's opportunities and preserving the clean sheet.

With the victory, LMU improves to 25-15 on the season, continuing to build momentum with a complete performance defined by timely hitting, depth, and dominant pitching.
