Lions Explode for 13 Runs Behind Jamgotchian’s Record Night

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - LMU softball put together one of its most complete offensive performances of the season on Thursday night, using timely hitting, relentless pressure, and a historic showing from Izzy Jamgotchian to run-rule Pacific, 13-3, in six innings at Smith Field.

The Lions set the tone early and never let up. After scratching across the game's first run in the opening inning, LMU weathered a brief push from Pacific before settling in and taking control for good. From the third inning on, the Lions' offense came alive in waves, stringing together quality at-bats, aggressive baserunning, and clutch hits to steadily build separation.

A big turning point came in the fourth inning. With the game tied, Meeya Johnson sparked the rally the way she did all night, by setting the table. The sophomore led off the inning with a double, the first of two leadoff doubles she delivered in back-to-back innings, immediately putting pressure on the Tigers' defense. Moments later, Avery Francis followed with one of her four hits on the night, and Jamgotchian delivered the knockout punch – a two-run home run to center that flipped momentum firmly in LMU's favor. Johnson would come right back in the fifth and do it again, ripping another leadoff double to keep the Lions' offense rolling.

From there, the Lions never looked back.

LMU piled on 16 hits in total, with production coming from throughout the lineup. Francis was electric at the top, going 4-for-5 with four runs scored and constantly igniting rallies. Johnson finished with two doubles and two runs, while Justine Lambert turned in a perfect 3-for-3 performance. Taelor Walker added two hits and an RBI, and Sakora Harvell chipped in an RBI knock as LMU kept the pressure on inning after inning.

And then there was Jamgotchian.

The senior catcher delivered a night to remember, going 2-for-3 with two home runs and five RBIs, including a three-run blast in the sixth inning that brought the run-rule into effect. Beyond the box score, her performance etched her name even deeper into the record books. Jamgotchian is now LMU's all-time career walks leader with 120, set a new personal single-season home run record with 17 – moving her into second place in LMU program history for single-season home runs (trailing only Sam Fischer's record of 23) – and broke the WCC single-season walks record with 45, surpassing her own mark from the 2025 season.

In the circle, LMU once again leaned on a staff effort. Sara Pinedo got the start before Angela Carrera steadied things in the middle innings, and Savannah Hooks shut the door. Hooks was especially sharp down the stretch, tossing two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit to secure the win.

After briefly falling behind early, the Lions responded with authority, outscoring Pacific 12-1 over the final four innings to turn a tight contest into a statement victory.

With the win, LMU improves to 29-15 overall, continuing to build momentum as the Lions push deeper into conference play.
