Denser, Pinedo, and Carrera Combine for No-Hitter in Lions’ 3-0 Victory

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Loyola Marymount softball delivered a dominant all-around performance Tuesday night, combining for a no-hitter in a 3-0 shutout victory over California Baptist at John C. Funk Stadium. The win moves the Lions to 15-5 on the season and was powered by a lights-out effort in the circle from Sawyer Denser, Sara Pinedo, and Angela Carrera, who kept the Lancers off the hit column all evening.

LMU struck first in the opening inning when Izzy Jamgotchian crushed a solo home run to center field, immediately putting the Lions in front 1-0 and setting the tone early. The Lions continued to pressure the Lancers in the second inning as Taelor Walker singled and aggressively moved into scoring position before coming home on a perfectly placed bunt RBI single from Justine Lambert, extending the lead to two.

The Lions added another run in the fourth inning. Sakora Harvell reached base and moved into scoring position before Analiah Lummus delivered an RBI single to center field, giving LMU a 3-0 cushion that would prove more than enough behind the pitching staff's dominance.

Meanwhile, LMU's pitching trio controlled the game from start to finish. Sawyer Denser opened with 2.1 hitless innings to set the tone before Sara Pinedo entered and kept the Lancers off balance through the middle 2.2 innings to earn the win and improve to 5-0 on the season. Angela Carrera then closed the door in the final two frames, striking out two and sealing the combined no-hitter.

At the plate, the Lions collected seven hits, with Analiah Lummus leading the way with a 2-for-3 performance and an RBI, while Jamgotchian's early home run provided the game's opening spark. LMU also applied pressure on the bases throughout the night, recording multiple stolen bases and forcing California Baptist into defensive mistakes.
