LA JOLLA, Calif. – In a rematch from the week prior, #9 LMU and #6 Arizona State played for fifth place in the final day of the 2026 Triton Invitational. The Lions lost 15-10 to the Sun Devils to take sixth in the competitive tournament.

Anna Tarantino and
Cianne Benjamin scored goals in the first two minutes of the game to lead 2-0. After ASU tied the score, Benjamin pushed the Lions back on top with her goal at 2:01 in the first. Arizona State scored the next two goals before
Chelsea Isaac tied the game at 4-4 with 40 seconds left in the first.

Lily Larson scored midway through the second quarter to push the Lions back on top, 5-4. Arizona State scored the next two goals before Tarantino tied the score at 6-all. ASU again responded with two more goals before Tarantino cut it to a 1-goal game just ahead of the half.

 The Sun Devils scored three of the four third quarter goals, with only
Cila David putting LMU on the board in the second period.

The first two fourth quarter goals also went to ASU before Sophie DeMattia scored for the Lions. Arizona State pushed their lead to six before
London Boyd's goal at the 2:45 mark of the fourth made it 15-10.

The Lions are at home on Friday night for the first game under the lights of the season. LMU will host UC Irvine at 6:00 PM. UC Irvine finished seventh this weekend in the Triton Invite.
