LOS ANGELES — LMU women's basketball graduate student
Jess Lawson was named West Coast Conference Player of the Week after leading the Lions to a pair of victories against the University of the Pacific and previously undefeated Oregon State.
Lawson delivered a dominant week on the glass, averaging a double-double while anchoring LMU on both ends of the floor. She averaged 13.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per game, totaling 26 points and 22 rebounds across the two contests.
The week opened with a statement performance against Oregon State, as Lawson finished with 14 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, helping LMU hand the Beavers their first loss of the season. She followed with another strong outing against Pacific, recording 12 points and six rebounds while providing a steady interior presence.
Lawson's physical play and rebounding were instrumental in both victories, as she controlled the paint and set the tone defensively throughout the week.
This marks Lawson's first WCC Player of the Week honor of the season.
LMU returns home Thursday night to host Portland at 6 p.m. inside Gersten Pavilion, entering the matchup at 5–2 in WCC play.
