SAN FRANCISCO - Outfielder
Zion Williams crushed a three-run home run in the 11th inning and
James Bose added a solo shot earlier in the frame as LMU surged past San Francisco, 10-6, on Sunday afternoon at Benedetti Diamond to complete the weekend sweep.
The Lions used four scoreless innings from the bullpen and timely extra-bases to overcome a late-game tie and outlast the Dons in the series finale.
How LMU Scored
After three scoreless frames from both teams, Beau Ankeney put LMU on the board with a solo homer to left center - his second long ball of the series and season.
DJ Ghiorso singled and moved to third on a base hit from Colby Wallace. With one out, Cam Hassert lifted a sacrifice fly to right center, plating Ghiorso and giving LMU a 2-0 lead.
After two runners reached via walk and hit-by-pitch, Ghiorso came through again - this time with a two-out, two-run double to right center. Cam Hassert followed with a two-RBI single through the right side, scoring James Bose and Wallace to extend the lead to 6-1.
Tied 6-6 in extra innings, Bose led off the 11th with a no-doubt solo homer to right - his first of the season. That set the stage for Williams, who launched a 3-0 pitch over the wall in left center with two runners aboard to put the game out of reach at 10-6. It was Williams' second home run of the series and his sixth of the season.
