LOS ANGELES - LMU had their hands full against a powerhouse No. 6 UCLA Bruins squad, falling 12-0 in five innings Sunday afternoon at Smith Field.
LMU pitcher
Lindsay O'Dell worked a quick first inning, getting three straight outs to start the game, but the Bruins broke through in the second. A pair of doubles put UCLA on the board, giving them a 2-0 lead.
Mina Tala came in to pitch in the third, but UCLA kept the pressure on scoring four more runs putting them up 6-0. Meanwhile, the Lions struggled to find a rhythm.
UCLA tacked on three runs in the fourth and fifth innings, making it 12-0 and sealing the run-rule victory.
The Lions best chance to score came in the bottom of the fifth, when
Sakora Harvell led off with a single and
Analiah Lummus followed with a hit of her own. However, LMU was unable to capitalize with runners on base.
The Lions will look to bounce back in their next matchup against Northern Colorado on Mar. 15 at 12:00 PM at Smith Field.
