SAN DIEGO, CA – The Lions faced a tough match on the road against the San Diego State Aztecs, falling 6-2.

SDSU wasted no time putting runs on the board. A couple of singles brought in the first run, followed by a two-run triple and an error that allowed another to cross, giving SDSU a 4-0 lead after one inning.

LMU's bats struggled to find a rhythm early, but the defense tightened up. Pitcher Lindsay O'Dell entered in the second, held things steady, and got some help from her defense, including a slick double play in the third to shut down a potential rally.

The Lions finally broke through in the fourth when Arianna Jaurequi ripped a double, setting the stage for Sakora Harvell, who delivered an RBI triple to put LMU on the board. The Aztecs also scored at the bottom of the inning, making the score 5-1 at the end of the fourth.

The momentum continued in the sixth for the Lions when Izzy Jamgotchian crushed a solo home run, cutting the deficit to 5-2.

Unfortunately, SDSU responded tacking on another run in the bottom of the inning with an RBI. LMU had one last chance in the seventh, but SDSU's pitching shut the door, retiring the side in order to seal the win.

The Lions will look to bounce back in their next matchup on Sunday, Mar. 9, against the UCLA Bruins at Smith Field.
