LOS ANGELES - The Lions fell short to the No. 6 UCLA Bruins on Thursday evening at Easton Stadium, ultimately falling 11-1.
In the first inning, LMU went down in order, and the Bruins wasted no time making an impact, launching a three-run homer to take control right away.
A solo homer in the second and a three-run shot later in the inning extended the deficit to 7-0.
The Lions made a pitching change, bringing in
Jessica Hubbard to relieve
Lindsay O'Dell, but UCLA continued its offensive momentum, scoring four more runs in the inning to make it an 11-0 game.
The Lions kept fighting, and in the fifth,
Sakora Harvell put LMU on the board. After
Arianna Jaurequi got on base and moved up on a passed ball, Harvell ripped a single to bring her home.
The Lions play again tomorrow with a doubleheader against the No. 20 San Diego State Aztecs in San Diego, CA at 3:30 PM.
