LOS ANGELES—LMU shook off a slow start and powered past the Northern Colorado Bears, 9-5, Sunday morning, sweeping the series at home.
The Bears struck first in the second inning, hitting the game's first homer and gaining to runs. In the fourth, they tacked on two more unearned runs, putting LMU in a 4-0 hole. The Lions weren't about to stay quiet, though.
In the bottom of the fourth, the offense came alive when
Emma Gutierrez ripped an RBI double to put LMU on the board. Moments later,
Justine Lambert doubled to bring in another run. Off the bench,
Jasmine Sofowora delivered the biggest hit of the day which was a three-run bomb that gave the Lions a 5-4 lead.
Northern Colorado answered with a solo homer in the fifth to tie things up, but LMU kept the momentum rolling.
Analiah Lummus put the Lions back in front with an RBI single, and another run came across on a throwing error. Lummus struck again in the sixth, driving in two more with a clutch single to extend the lead.

Jessica Hubbard combined for three scoreless innings of relief, shutting the door on the Bears and securing the win.
