LOS ANGELES - The Lions had a tough day at the plate as they fell to the Nevada Wolf Pack, 5-1.
Nevada got on the board first after a hit-by-pitch put a runner on, followed by an RBI double to left center.
Lindsay O'Dell responded with a strikeout to end the threat, but the visitors took a 1-0 lead.
O'Dell stayed solid in the circle, racking up strikeouts and working around base runners in the second and third innings, but the Lions offense struggled, failing to get a hit through four innings.
By the fifth inning, the Wolf Pack were up 2-0 and extended it after hitting a two-run homer.
Jessica Hubbard came in for O'Dell for relief and ended the frame.
LMU finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth.
Sydney Poole started things with a single, followed by a base hit from
Justine Lambert. After a strikeout,
Izzy Jamgotchian delivered a single, bringing home Poole and putting the Lions on the board.
Nevada tacked on one more in the seventh with an RBI triple, making it 5-1. LMU had one last chance in the bottom half, but a pop-up, a strikeout, and a groundout sealed their fate.
The Lions will look to bounce back next weekend as they take on the University of Utah at the Fresno State Kickoff Classic in Fresno, CA.
