LOS ANGELES – Former LMU softball star Marina Vitalich has been inducted into the 2025 LA Sportswalk Hall of Fame.
Founded in 1978 by the San Pedro community, the LA Sportswalk honors collegiate, Olympic, and professional athletes who have made lasting contributions to sports.
A San Pedro native, Vitalich began her softball journey at Mary Star of the Sea High School, where she set program records for strikeouts, wins, and ERA. She was a three-time Cal-Hi Sports All-State selection, a 2015 MaxPreps All-American, and ranked in the Top 10 in CIF-Southern Section history for strikeouts with 1,154.
Her standout high school career earned her a scholarship to George Mason University, where she became one of the program's all-time greats. Vitalich was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Pitcher of the Year in 2017, which was the first in school history. She also graduated as the program's all-time strikeout leader with 551. She was later recognized on the Atlantic 10 Conference All-Decade Team.
After earning an extra year of eligibility due to COVID-19, Vitalich transferred to LMU, where she made an immediate impact. In her lone season with the Lions, she was named to the All-WCC First Team and led the conference in both wins and strikeouts. After her time playing for the Lions, she served as a graduate assistant and helped lead LMU to its first WCC Championship in 2022.
On the international stage, Vitalich, along with her sister Amanda, represented Croatia's National Team for nine seasons before transitioning into her current role as Assistant Director of Compliance at Pepperdine University.
Vitalich is the daughter of Mike and Zulma Vitalich. In October 2024, she married Aaron Cymbor, and the couple now resides in San Pedro, CA.
Vitalich joins a distinguished list of LA Sportswalk inductees that includes basketball legend Lisa Leslie and fellow Mary Star alum and softball standout, Sarah Gascon.
