LOS ANGELES – The LMU women's soccer team fell to Pittsburgh 3-0 on Thursday afternoon at Sullivan Field in the home opener.
The Lions had a handful of great chances but could not capitalize.
Jennessa Grove had the first excellent opportunity for the Lions. After nicking the ball off the Panthers' final defender, Groves pushed the ball onto her right foot and tried to chip it over the encroaching goalkeeper but lifted it too high and over the crossbar.
Abby Lynch was next up with a great chance. She received a ball over the top after a misplay by the Panthers' backline. Lynch tried to rip a shot into the bottom right but was beaten away by the recovering defender.
After a 0-0 draw at the half, the Panthers picked up and got three after the break.
With the loss, the Lions drop to 2-2 overall and will look to get back into the win column on Thursday, September 5 against Cal Poly on the road. That match will be streamed on ESPN+.
