Lions Shine in Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MORAGA, CA – On Friday afternoon, the Lions secured victories in both games against the Saint Mary's Gaels. They clinched a tight 3-2 win in game one and dominated with an 8-0 victory in five innings in game two.
 
Game one:
 
The Lions took an early lead in the game as Adele Braun's double to left center brought Arianna Jaurequi home. Keeping the momentum, Hayley Olivas singled up the middle, adding an RBI to extend the lead. The Lions held a 2-0 advantage over the Gaels. However, in the second inning, the Gaels narrowed the margin with a single up the middle, scoring a run.
 
The third inning passed without any runs, hits, or errors. In the fourth inning, Saint Mary's managed to tie the game at 2-2 with a single to the left side.
 
The score remained deadlocked until the seventh inning when Izzy Jamgotchian's single to left field brought Jaurequi home, securing a 3-2 victory for the Lions.
 
Jenna Perez pitched a complete game, earning the win and improving her record to 14-10.
 
Game two:

The Lions got off to a strong start when Jamgotchian singled to right center, driving Jaurequi home. LMU maintained their momentum in the second inning with Jaurequi's single up the middle, extending their lead to 2-0.
 
In the third inning, Braun's hit got the Lions on base. Later, Jasmine Sofowora singled, bringing Braun home. Sofowora then stole second base and scored when Lauryn Carter singled up the middle, putting the Lions ahead 4-0.
 
The fourth inning saw the Lions ramping up their offense, scoring their highest number of runs. After Jaurequi and Mika Chong walked, Jamgotchian hit a powerful homer, driving them and herself home. Immediately after, Braun hit a solo home run, pushing LMU's lead to 8-0.
 
Savannah Hooks and the Lions' defense effectively kept the Gaels in check, resulting in a final score of 8-0 after five innings.
 
The series will continue tomorrow at 12 PM in Moraga, CA.
