Berkeley, CA—On Sunday afternoon, the Lions pulled off an upset by defeating the No. 20 ranked Cal Golden Bears with a score of 6-3.
 
In the opening innings, Lindsay O'Dell and the Golden Bears' Archer showcased strong pitching, resulting in a scoreless deadlock with just one hit for the Lions.
 
However, the game dynamics shifted in the third inning as Mika Chong's double to right field, followed by Izzy Jamgotchian's identical hit, drove Chong home, giving LMU a one-run advantage. Cal quickly responded, notching a run of their own.
 
The Lions jumped ahead in the fourth inning with Lauryn Carter's single to right field. Jasmine Sofowora capitalized on an unearned run, granting LMU a 2-1 lead.
 
Entering the fifth inning, despite the Golden Bears swapping pitchers, LMU's offense remained relentless. Jamgotchian kicked off the inning with a spectacular home run, swiftly followed by Sofowora's powerful shot, extending LMU's lead to 4-1.
 
Cal retaliated with a home run of their own in the bottom of the inning yet trailed behind LMU. Arianna Jaurequi and Kealani Caster further secured LMU's victory with two additional runs, sealing a 6-3 triumph over the Golden Bears.
 
Adele Braun led with six putouts, while Carter and Jamgotchian led with three hits apiece.

The Lions next game is next weekend, Apr.12, against the San Diego Toreros in San Diego, CA.
