SAN DIEGO, CA – The Lions kicked off their WCC season with a tough 4-0 loss against the San Diego Toreros.
In the opening innings, both
Jenna Perez and Rose from the Toreros displayed solid performances, resulting in a scoreless deadlock. However, San Diego broke through in the third inning, capitalizing on a fielder's choice to second base to notch an unearned run. Another hit through the left side brought in another Torero, putting them ahead 2-0.
Hayley Olivas,
Jasmine Sofowora and the Lions defense put in a solid effort in the fourth inning, resulting in just one hit and no runs.
Lauryn Carter and
Izzy Jamgotchian sustained the defensive momentum in the fifth inning, again limiting the Toreros to just one hit and no runs. Unfortunately, the Toreros widened their lead in the sixth inning, scoring two more runs and sealing the victory, 4-0.
The Lions will have another chance to square off against the Toreros tomorrow, with the first game of the series set to begin at 12 PM.
