Lions Slug Five Homers in Rout of Pacific

LOS ANGELES – Sam Biller hit a pair of homeruns, Owen Hackman threw six strong innings and the Lions baseball team defeated Pacific 21-4 on Friday night in Stockton, Calif.

The Lions belted five homers in total. Biller hit the first one in the third inning before Robbie Ayers followed suit a few batters later. Christian Dicochea hit a towering shot in the top of the sixth before Diego Baqueiro and Biller hit back-to-back homeruns in the eighth.

The offense set the tone right away with three runs in the top of the first. Biller singled up the middle with the bases loaded to plate the first run of the game. Daalen Adderley followed with a single just out of reach of the third baseman to score two more and give Hackman a lead in his first inning of work.

Hackman delivered. He allowed only one run, struck out nine and walked one over six innings of work. He earned his fifth victory of the season and has racked up 21 strikeouts in his last two starts.

Baqueiro and Biller accounted for nine RBIs, collected seven hits combined and scored six runs.

Dicochea had a fantastic game at the leadoff spot, reaching base five times and ending a triple shy of the cycle. He also scored three runs and had a pair of RBIs.

Adderley also had a fantastic game. He drove in a pair of runs, scored three times, reached base five times and was close to hitting a third homer in a row but settled for a triple in the eighth. He also made an incredible diving catch on a shallow liner to end the sixth inning.

Michael Nunez went unscathed in the seventh before Jacob Hughes punched out the side in the eighth.

Cole Chimenti came in to shut down the Tigers in the ninth and send the Lions home with a win.

The teams will meet again on Saturday, April 20 with first pitch scheduled for 3:00 p.m. (PT).
