SAN JOSE, CA – On Saturday morning, the Lions secured a 6-5 victory over the North Dakota State Bisons in an impressive come-from-behind win.
The game began with the Lions finding themselves in a tough spot, conceding five runs in the initial inning. Determined to turn the tide,
Savannah Hooks stepped in for
Jessica Hubbard, aiming to slow down the Bisons' offensive momentum.
Hooks, supported by the Lions' solid defense, successfully thwarted the Bisons in the following two innings, maintaining the score at 5-0.
The Lions made their move in the top of the fourth inning, as
Avery Francis singled to bring
Mika Chong home, putting the first run on the board. The turning point came in the fifth inning when LMU seized control of the game.
Kealani Caster and
Lauryn Carter both singled, positioning two Lions on the diamond.
Hayley Olivas flyout to right field allowed Caster to score. In the subsequent play,
Sakora Harvell's single to right center brought in two RBIs, courtesy of Chong and Carter's speed. With the score now at 5-4, LMU was hot on the heels of the Bisons.
In the final three innings, the Bisons struggled to find their footing, while LMU capitalized on the momentum, scoring two more runs and clinching a come-from-behind victory with a final score of 6-5.
