LOS ANGELES – After posting career-highs in points, rebounds, assists, steals, and minutes played in the 2023-24 season, LMU's Alex Merkviladze has been named to the All-WCC Honorable Mention Team. Voting from the nine head coaches in the West Coast Conference determine the All-Conference teams.
 
Merkviladze's numbers are up this season in almost every statistical category. The Georgian increased his scoring to 12.2 points per game this season and has the third-most rebounds in the conference at 7.1 rebounds per game. He ranks fifth in the WCC with six double-doubles.

Merkviladze ranks 12^th in the WCC in minutes played at nearly 30.8 minutes per game after playing and starting in 29 of the 30 possible games this season.
 
Merkviladze is in his third season at LMU, after transferring from CSUN after his freshman year of college. This is his first WCC award.
 
The Lions will open the 2024 Credit Union 1 WCC Basketball Championship in the second round on Friday night against the University of Portland. The game will be played at 8:30 PM, following the first second-round matchup at 6:00 PM. Friday's game will be available to watch on ESPN+ and to listen to on KXLU 88.9 FM Los Angeles.
