Lions Suffer Double Defeat Against No. 15 UCLA

LOS ANGELES - The Lions had their first doubleheader of the season against the 15th-ranked UCLA on Saturday afternoon, dropping both matches by a score of 8-0.

Game 1:

In the opening inning, Avery Francis hit a solid to third base, marking their first hit of the game. However, the following three batters faced strikeouts. At the bottom of the inning, Lindsay O'Dell delivered a pitch, only for the Bruins to respond with a sharp hit through the left side, securing a run for their team.

The game's momentum shifted in the third inning when UCLA executed a precise single through the left side, allowing a Bruin to dash back to home plate, giving them a 2-0 lead. The Bruins continued their offensive skills in the fourth inning, doubling their lead by sending another player home.

With hopes of halting the Bruins momentum, Alessandra Samperio took over for O'Dell on the mound. Unfortunately, UCLA persisted, adding another run and ultimately sealing the deal with a powerful home run, extending their lead to 8-0 and clinching the victory.

Game 2:

The game kicked off with a fiery start as the Bruins jumped ahead with three runs in the opening inning. Jenna Perez showcased her pitching skills in the following frames, delivering a flawless inning with no runs, hits, or errors.

Despite Perez conceding a run, the Lions brought in Savannah Hooks in an attempt to stifle the Bruins' momentum.

However, UCLA managed to tack on two more runs, extending their lead to 6-0. Regrettably, the Lions couldn't muster any further hits, while UCLA added two more runs in the fifth and concluding inning, ultimately sealing an 8-0 victory.
