Lions Outscore San Diego By 30 in the Second Half in Team Dominant Performance

LOS ANGELES – LMU men's basketball finished with 96 points in Thursday night's final home game. The Lions shot a season-best 58.5 percent (31-for-53) from the field, a season-best 61.5 percent (16-for-26) from three, a season-best 51 rebounds, and a season-best eight blocked shots in the 96-62 win over San Diego.
 
Dominick Harris made his return to action for the first time in six games and scored LMU's first seven points. Harris scored 13 of his 20 points in the first half.
 
Alex Merkviladze hit two early threes on his way to a fourth-consecutive double-double. Merkviladze scored 17 points with 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals. The Georgian finished a perfect 4-for-4 from long distance.
 
The Lions closed the half on a 12-2 run and the final eight points to put the Lions ahead 36-34 at the break.
 
A 32-8 run to open the second quarter pushed the Lions ahead 68-40. LMU had runs of 12-0, 8-0 and 9-0 to blow the game wide open.
 
The lead grew to 39 points as another 20-3 LMU run blew the game even further open. Will Johnston scored the final eight consecutive points during that stretch and 14 of the 20 points of the run. Johnston finished with a game-high 26 points on 6-for-10 shooting from long range.
 
Michael Graham tied the single-game program record with seven blocks and changed the course of the game with six coming in the second half. Graham also grabbed a team-high 13 rebounds and scored a season-high nine points.
 
Justice Hill dished out a game-high six assists to go along with his 12 points.
 
Lars Thiemann added 10 points as the fifth Lion in double-digits.
 
The Lions have one regular season game remaining. LMU will play at Portland on Saturday night ahead of traveling to Las Vegas for the West Coast Conference Championships.
