FULLERTON, Calif. - Christian Dicochea reached base four times in the Lions tough luck 6-4 loss to Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday night at Goodwin Field in Fullerton, Calif.Â
Â
The Lions fell behind early before mounting a comeback in the top of the fourth.Â
Â
Former Titan Brendan Bobo lined a single into center field before advancing to third when Dicochea poked one through the right side. Grant Weiss would notch his first knock and RBI of the 2024 campaign by lacing a ball through the left side of the infield to cut the deficit to one. Both runners advanced after
Brett Zimmerman hit a ball to the warning track in right field.
Benny Casillas followed up with a dribbler past the pitcher that the third baseman could not get to into time. After trying to get Casillas at first, the throw went wide, allowing both runners to score.Â
Â
The lead would be short lived as the Titans put up three in the bottom of the fourth. Â
Â
The Lions would pull within a run in the seventh inning. Devan Ornelas led off the inning with a single up the middle. On the two strike pitch, Ornelas stole second and when the ball bounced away from the catcher, advanced all the way to third. He came into score on a well-struck sacrifice fly from
Sam Biller. Â
Â
Six Lions pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts on the night. Cole Stucky and Austin Schroeder punched out a pair each in scoreless outings. Jake Geis struck out six over three innings of work to lead the Lions' staff. Â
Â
The Lions host Michigan on Wednesday, February 28 before welcoming Villanova for a weekend series. First pitch with the Wolverines is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. (PT).Â
