The Lions played against the top-ranked team in the nation, the Oklahoma Sooners, during the final day of the Mary Nutter Classic and were defeated with a score of 9-0.
Jessica Hubbard delivered an impressive pitching display against the Sooners, conceding just one hit in the initial inning, which did not result in any runs.
The Lions, however, failed to secure any runs themselves, keeping the score deadlocked at zero as they entered the second inning.

During the second inning, the Sooners made an impressive start by immediately hitting a home run. Oklahoma went on to secure most of their runs in this inning, adding four more before its conclusion. As a result, the Sooners held the lead of 5-0.

Alessandra Samperio then took over pitching duties from Hubbard in the third inning and successfully held the Sooners without any additional runs, hits, or errors.

The Sooners gained more momentum, adding four more runs – two in the fourth and two in the fifth inning.

The Lions persevered and managed to secure two hits in the last inning. However, their efforts weren't enough, and the Sooners ultimately came out with the win.

Arianna Jaurequi contributed with a single hit.
