Box Score SAN DIEGO – The LMU softball team came up short against San Diego State on Sunday afternoon, falling 8-5.
Izzy Jamgotchian launched her first homerun of the season in the first inning, a two-run shot to put the Lions on the board early.
Val Pero added another in the second with a sacrifice fly to score Jasmine Sofowora.
The Aztecs scratched one across in the third inning, but the Lions were bouncing back right away with two more of their own.
Lauryn Carter doubled to right-center to lead off the inning. Jamgotchian singled through the right side to advance her to third and then
Adele Braun singled through the left side to collect the RBI. After
Arianna Jaurequi sacrificed to advance the runners to second and third, Sofowora recorded an RBI groundout to add another.
The Lions could not hold the lead as the Aztecs put up three in the sixth inning and then four more in the seventh.
Jenna Perez started in the circle, went five and two-thirds innings and struck out four. She allowed four earned runs.
Lindsay O'Dell was tagged with the loss after surrendering four runs in the seventh.
The Lions are back in action Wednesday at Smith Field to host the Cal State Fullerton Titans. The game will begin at 4:00 p.m. (PT).
