LOS ANGELES, CA— The Lions swept the Oregon State Beavers 3-0 on Wednesday night, completing an undefeated home season and securing the 2024 WCC Championship — their first since 1996.

The opening set was a tightly contested battle, with neither team leading by more than two points until a pivotal kill by Kalani Hayes sparked a nine-point rally. The run, capped by a Sophie Stephenson kill assisted by Delfina Schuh, pushed LMU ahead 14-6. Midway through the set, Paige Flickinger's kill ignited a 3-0 rally, extending the lead to 11. While Oregon State responded with a four-point streak, the Lions maintained control, closing out the set 25-16 with back-to-back kills from Stephenson and Sophia Meyers.

Momentum stayed with LMU in the second set, as they jumped to a 6-2 lead. A four-point flurry midway through gave them a comfortable five-point advantage. The Beavers tried to close the gap, but an OSU error set off four consecutive points for the Lions, increasing the lead to 21-12. The set ended with a decisive kill from Marlee Arrington, securing another 25-16 victory.

LMU dominated early in the third set, surging ahead 9-2 with a seven-point run. A later six-point streak further widened the gap, putting the set out of reach for Oregon State. Kaitlyn Evans delivered the final blow, sealing the set 25-9 and the 3-0 match win.

Stephenson and Flickinger led the team with eight kills apiece, while Sam Hastings anchored the defense with 11 digs. Schuh tallied a match-high 17 assists, and Hayes dominated at the net with six blocks.

The Lions next game is Friday, Nov.29, against the Washington State Cougars in Pullman, WA.
