PORTLAND, Ore. - Kylie Dobbs scored a brace to break a 31-year-old single season scoring record and etched her name into the LMU history books with her 11th goal of the season in LMU women's soccer's 2-2 draw against Portland on Saturday night.  

 

Dobbs did not score on Wednesday night against Oregon State and was clearly looking forward to getting back in the goals column on Saturday. The senior from Dallas, Tex. equalized from the penalty spot before scoring a delightful header to give the Lions a late lead.  

 

After her shot from the spot, the Lions went ahead through a wonderfully executed set piece. Emma Gustad Myklebust drove in a spectacularly weighted ball from near midfield. Dobbs, facing away from the net, flicked the ball on and it took a deflection off a Pilot defender and past the sprawling goalkeeper. With that goal, Dobbs surpassed Cindy Carullo's 1993 single season record of 10. 

 

Two more regular season contests still remain, which means Dobbs's record breaking may not be finished.  

 

The Lions ended up putting eight shots on frame with Jennessa Groves denied on three occasions. The other striker that head coach Chris Chamides deploys is hot on Dobbs's trail with eight goals.  

 

JJ Hoover added seven more saves to her account and is saving nearly 80 per cent of shots on target.  

 

The Lions finish their extended road slate with eight road victories. That is tied for the second most nationally and is a school record at LMU. They will return to the friendly confines of Sullivan Field on Saturday, November 6 to host San Francisco at 7:00 p.m. (PT).
