LOS ANGELES -The Lions defeated the Pacific Tiger in both doubleheader games Friday evening in their first WCC conference games.

In the first run of game, one came from the Lions in the second innings when
Gabby Villa fouled out to the infield sending
Madalie Gomez back home.
Jenna Perez had a great pitching performance early in the game as well leaving the Tigers with zero hits the first three innings.Â
The Lions defense also contributed to the Tigers having zero runs in those innings.

In the fourth inning, the Tigers would earn their first run and tying up the score between them and the Lions, 1-1.

The next two innings both teams went run less making extra innings highly possible, but in the seventh inning
Arianna Jaurequi hit a ball that flied out sending Villa home.

LMU would win the game by one, 2-1.
Â
Izzy Jamgotchian led both teams in putouts with eight.
Taylor Fitch followed with seven.
Â
In the night cap, the Tigers earned the first run of the game in the first inning. The Lions had a chance to catch up when Jaurequi and
Kat Hummer were on the bases, but the Lions grounded out the next play and it was on the bottom of the inning. For the next two innings, both teams earned zero runs.

In the fifth inning is when the Lions turned up the momentum.
Jasmine Sofowora singled up the middle getting the Lions on the bases. Jaurequi followed and advanced to first from a throwing error. With two Lions on the bases,
Val Pero bunted the ball that sent Sofowora back to home plate. The score was now, 1-1.

Two batters later, Morgan Debord singled to right field and gained two RBI thanks to Pero and Jaurequi. The Lions now led the Tigers by two, 3-1. The very next play, DeBord stole third and scored on a throwing error earning the last run of the game. The Lions defeated the Tigers, 4-1.

Savannah Hooks pitched five innings and only gave up one hit to the Tigers. Jamgotchian led the Lions again in putouts with 10.
