LOS ANGELES – The 15
th-ranked LMU women's water polo team faced a tough USC team who holds the number one national ranking. The Trojans jumped ahead early and defeated the Lions, 20-4.
LMU trailed 4-0 after the first quarter and fell behind 8-0 before
Mollie Williams put the Lions on the board with a goal off the pass from
Ruth Arino Ruiz. The Trojans took an 11-1 lead into halftime at their home pool.
The Lions scored in the opening minute of third quarter as Arino Ruiz beat the goalkeeper with an even-strengthed goal.
Sophie Kadifa closed the game with two fourth-quarter goals, both coming on the 6-on-5.
The Lions will return to Golden Coast Conference action this Saturday with a trip to Irvine to face Concordia at 12:30 PM.
