FRESNO, Calif. – Both No. 16 LMU and No. 9 Fresno State entered Saturday's Golden Coast Conference matchup atop the conference standings and without a loss in league play. The game was even throughout, and tied late in the third quarter, before the Bulldogs pulled away to win, 10-7.
 
Yanah Gerber opened the scoring with an even-strength goal less than a minute and a half into play. After Fresno State tied up the game, Marialena Seletopoulou took advantage of the powerplay to give the Lions a 2-1 lead with 19 seconds remaining on the clock.
 
The Bulldogs tied the score at 2-all on their opening possession of the second quarter before Mollie Williams responded with her first of four goals on LMU's ensuing possession. Fresno State took their first lead of the day with consecutive goals from Hailey Andress and two more to following to close out the half with four unanswered goals.
 
Williams scored twice early in the second half to cut the deficit down to just one before Fresno State benefited from an extra player following an exclusion to bring the home team's lead to 7-5. The Lions roared back as both Williams and Ruth Arino Ruiz beat the goalkeeper to tie game at 7-7. Following a timeout, the Bulldogs scored the last two goals of the period of the final 3:10 to take a two-goal lead into the fourth quarter.
 
Only one goal was scored in the final eight minutes as Fresno State added to their lead to clinch the game.
 
Madison Davis made five saves in her 32 minutes in the cage for the Lions.
