LOS ANGELES – LMU claimed the doubles point to get off to a hot start and then cruised with victories on courts three, five and six to even up their record at 1-1 in West Coast Conference play with a 4-0 victory over Saint Mary's on Saturday morning.
The match was moved up due to the availability of referees, and the Lions came ready to play.
Head coach Tom Lloyd switched up the doubles roster a bit. The tandem of Yassine Smiej and
Toky Ranaivo cruised to a 6-1 victory in number three doubles before the newly formed team of
John Bryan Otico and
Austin Di Giulio won a tiebreaker set to clinch the first point of the match.
Smiej continued his run of strong play with a straight sets victory on court two to add another point for the Lions.
Ranaivo won handily on court five 6-2, 6-2 to claim a point and
Alvaro Gonzalez finished the match with a straight sets win on court six to send the Lion faithful home happy.
LMU will be back on the court on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. (PT) to face Pacific in another WCC matchup.
