LOS ANGELES - For the third time this season, an LMU women's water polo player has been named Golden Coast Conference Player of the Week. On March 16,
Madison Davis joined teammates
Ruth Arino Ruiz and
Mollie Williams to receive the weekly recognition.
Davis led LMU to two GCC wins last weekend in LMU's home debut. The senior goalkeeper recorded 13 saves and an 8.67 goals against average to keep the Lions undefeated in conference play. Davis only needed to make one save in the first half against Santa Clara, but was spectacular in LMU's win over No. 14 Pacific the following morning with a season-high 12 saves to help LMU beat the Tigers at home for the first time since 2014. Davis also added a steal against Santa Clara and an assist against Pacific.
The Lions will take a pause on GCC play to host the LMU Invitational on Saturday. The one-day tournament will be played at Burns Aquatics Center and feature three nationally-ranked programs. No. 16 LMU will open the day against No. 11 Princeton at 9:00 AM. Then No. 4 UCLA will play against the Tigers at 12:30, with LMU and UCLA closing out the day with a 4:00 PM matchup. Admission is free for all three games.
