LOS ANGELES, CA – The Lions fall short in a, 1-0, battle against the No. 16 Kentucky Wildcats Tuesday afternoon. 
 
The Lions and Wildcats were in a pitching battle for the first five innings. Kentucky was only able to hit three pitches from Jenna Perez the whole game. The Lions also only registered three hits from the Wildcats.
 
It was at the top of the sixth inning when the Wildcats hit a pitch to shortstop sending a player home and giving Kentucky the first run of the game.
 
The Lions continued to struggle hitting the ball, but at the bottom of the seventh Adele Braun popped up to third base down the infield line getting the Lions on the bases. 
 
With hopes of making a comeback, Lilliana Thomas came out and doubled to center field advancing to second base. Elisa Rosado came in as a pinch runner for Thomas.
 
In the last play of the game Sydney Poole singled up the middle advancing Rosado to third. Rosado continued to run to home to try and give the Lions their first run of the game, but was put out midway. 
 
On the offensive end, both teams played an equal game hitting .120 (3-25). On the defensive end Kentucky had a .926 fielding percentage and LMU had .964.
 
The Lions will head to Palm Springs, CA this weekend for the annual Mary Nutter tournament with their first game being against the Utah Utes Friday, Feb. 24, at 5:30 PM.
