SAN DIEGO, CA – The Lions won both their games Sunday afternoon against the Utah Valley Wolverines and the UC Riverside Highlanders.
In game one both the Lions and Wolverines played great defense resulting in zero runs for the first three innings. In the fourth inning,
Morgan DeBord homered to right center giving the Lions their first and only run of the game. Utah Valley would continue to be run-less for the remainder of the game. LMU would win, 1-0.
The Wolverines only had two hits the whole game thanks to the pitching skills of
Jenna Perez.
Izzy Jamgotchian led both teams in putouts with 12.
In the second game the Lions came out on fire against the Highlanders. With all bases loaded,
Taylor Fitch hit a gram slam putting the Lions up, 4-0.
In the third inning the Highlanders singled up the middle giving them their first run of the game. They followed that play with another run, but the Lions still led. The Highlanders last run came in the fifth inning making the final score, 4-3
The Lions next game will be Feb. 21 as they take on the Wildcats of Kentucky.
