SAN DIEGO, CA – The LMU softball team loss two games Friday to the Utah Valley Wolverines (6-2) and the San Diego State Aztecs.
 
In the first game the Lions started the game on top with a run by Sydney Poole off a throwing error by the Wolverines. Utah Valley would quickly respond with a run of their own at the bottom of the first tying the score.
 
In the third inning Utah Valley would take the lead, 3-1. They would score two more runs in the fifth inning bringing the score to, 5-1.
 
Izzy Jamgotchian hit a home run in the sixth inning for the Lions, but still trailed the Wolverines by three. Utah Valley scored another run in the final inning marking the final score, 6-2.
 
In the nightcap, the San Diego State Aztecs scored a run at the bottom of the first leading LMU by one.
 
In the fourth inning Poole singled to first finally getting the Lions on the diamond. A hit by Morgan DeBord advanced Poole to second. It was looking promising for LMU until two more Lions got out.
 
At the bottom of the fourth San Diego State scored the rest of their runs. The Aztetcs flied out a ball to center field sending a player home. Jenna Perez sent a pitch to the Aztetcs that doubled down to right field leading their last player back home.
 
The Lions next game is Saturday, Feb. 18, against the No. 24 Oregon Ducks in San Diego, CA.
