LOS ANGELES – The Lions won their first game of the season against the Utah State Aggies, 4-3.
 
Utah State scored first with a 2-RBI double in the bottom of the second inning.
 
In the top of the third inning, the Lions stranded a pair of runners after Avery Francis singled up the middle and advanced to third on a Sydney Poole base hit. 
 
The Lions started to gain momentum in the 6^th inning when Poole walked and then stole second while Jasmine Sofowora was at bat. Sofowora eventually walked the Lions now had two runners on the bases. Izzy Jamgotchian came in and tripled down the right field line and gained 2 RBI for sending Sofowora and Poole home.
 
Izzy Jamgotchian got the Lions on the scoreboard in the sixth inning. After Poole and Jasmine Sofowora walked, Jamgotchian knocked the pair in with a two-RBI triple to right field. Adele Braun notched an RBI a batter later, scoring pinch runner Madeline Gomez to knot things up at three.
 
The Lions would go ahead in the eighth thanks to a Morgan DeBord RBI single and held on for a 4-3 victory in extra innings.
 
The game went into 8 innings and the Lions would win at the top of the innings when Morgan DeBord singled to pitcher sending Poole home and giving LMU the win, 4-3.
 
In the nightcap, the Lions fell to No. 2 UCLA 11-0 in five innings. 
 
The Bruins put up nine runs in the first inning and it was an uphill battle for the Lions after that. 
 
Paulina Johnson relieved starter Logan Caymol in the first inning after Caymol allowed five runs.
 
In the bottom of 3rd inning is when UCLA scored the rest of their runs. The Bruins reached on a fielder's choice to second base advancing one player two bases and advancing another back home. O'Dell sent a pitch to the Bruins that flied out to infield sending their last player back home.
 
The Lions are back in action on Sunday, February 12 in a double header against Washington and CSU Bakersfield.
